Inside The Mavs: Grant Williams' Viral Luka Comment; Summer League Deep Dive
DALLAS — On the latest episode of 'Inside The Mavs,' Kevin Gray and I discuss Grant Williams viral comments about Luka Doncic and take an in-depth look at the Dallas Mavericks' participation in NBA Summer League.
Williams, who joined the Mavs on a four-year, $52 million contract, praised Doncic's ability to create open shots for teammates during an appearance on the "Old Man & The Three" podcast.
“With Luka he does a great job of, no matter when you feel like you’re open he’s gonna find you," Williams said. "Very end of the shot clock, he’ll hit you with a pass that’s a dime and gives you an open look. So I’m excited just because he brings so much pressure and attention to himself, and he does a good job of getting others involved."
“And I think that's his growth and his next step, understanding that as much as that happens he also has to empower others to play their games as well," Williams explained. "So I think that's the next stage with him and this group that we have.”
During the Mavs' participation in Summer League, they finished with a 4-1 record after losing their opener against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The development of Jaden Hardy was the top storyline to monitor, but so was getting a first look at 2023 draftees Dereck Lively II and Olivier-Maxence Prosper.
