Dallas Mavs Injury Report on Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving; Los Angeles Lakers’ LeBron James, Anthony Davis Questionable
DALLAS — The Dallas Mavericks will complete the second part of a back-to-back against the NBA In-Season Tournament champion Los Angeles Lakers. However, both teams could be without plenty of familiar faces.
The injury report remains long for the Mavs ahead of their matchup against the Lakers, including Luka Doncic (low back contusion), Derrick Jones Jr. (left quad contusion), and Tim Hardaway Jr. (back spasms) being questionable to play.
The team has already ruled out Kyrie Irving (right heel contusion), Josh Green (right elbow sprain), and Maxi Kleber (right small toe dislocation). However, these players already were expected to be sidelined.
Doncic, who played 44 minutes against the Grizzlies, was noticeably bothered by his lower back after taking a hard fall early in the game. When speaking to reporters, he mentioned it was hurting "a lot," and his knees were swollen. He
"Now it's hurting like a... I'm not going to say it, but it's hurting a lot. My knees are swollen like... I gotta get ready for tomorrow."
After dealing with a right knee bone bruise, Grant Williams is no longer listed on the Mavs' injury report. Before Monday's game against the Grizzlies, Kidd expressed optimism that Williams would return during the team's two-game homestand with the chance to play both games.
"Hopefully, [Grant Williams] is going to be able to play on the homsetand," Mavs coach Jason Kidd said. "He's had good workouts here of late, so hopefully, he's back on one or two of the games we have at home."
On Monday, there was "no update" regarding a potential timetable for Irving's return as he recovers from a right heel contusion. No new information remains about Kleber or Green's possible timetables, either.
The Lakers have a length injury report of their own, including both LeBron James (left calf contusion) and Anthony Davis (left adductor hip spasm) questionable to play against the Mavs. Jarred Vanderbilt is questionable with a left calf contusion, while Gave Vincent (left knee effusion) and Jalen Hood-Shifino (low back spasm) have already been ruled out.
