NBA Betting: Mavs Crack Top 10 Preseason Title Odds

The Dallas Mavericks made several roster upgrades around their star duo of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving this summer, and NBA preseason title odds reflect that.
In this story:

Although NBA offseason activity has been at a minimum over the last several weeks, training camp is rapidly approaching, and there’s no better time for teams to be optimistic than during the preseason.

When it comes to the Dallas Mavericks specifically, they have several reasons for optimism as the 2023-24 inches closer. They were able to re-sign Kyrie Irving to a long-term deal, trade for Grant Williams, among other key pieces, and franchise superstar Luka Doncic made it through the FIBA World Cup without any major injuries … although he does need to rest his quad before training camp.

After a disappointing year that resulted in missing the playoffs, all of those roster changes have led to increased expectations for the upcoming season, not just for Mavs fans, but for NBA bettors as well.

According to VegasInsider.com, which features betting odds from popular websites such as FanDuel, BetMGM, DraftKings and others, the Mavs have top-10 odds of winning the NBA championship this season.

Here is the full top-10 list: 1) Denver Nuggets, 2) Boston Celtics, 3) Phoenix Suns, 4) Milwaukee Bucks, 5) Miami Heat, 6) Golden State Warriors, 7) Los Angeles Lakers, 8) Philadelphia 76ers, 9) Los Angeles Clippers, 10) Dallas Mavericks.

If the Mavs are able to stay relatively healthy, it’s easy to envision them passing up the Lakers and Clippers in the Western Conference projections, as LeBron James isn’t getting any younger, and the idea of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George is often a lot better than the reality of that duo due to injury concerns.

Last season, Doncic and Irving proved to be a lethal offensive combo, but the roster around them lacked depth and defensive versatility. That appears to have changed in a big way, and now they’ll have to go out there and prove these top-10 championship odds right.
