Dallas Mavs’ Luka Doncic on Texas Rangers World Series Game 2 Loss: ‘Blame It On Dirk!’
While the Dallas Mavericks are off to their best start to a season in nearly two decades, they’re simultaneously rooting for the Texas Rangers to win their first World Series in franchise history.
The Rangers defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks in Game 3 on Monday night to take a 2-1 series lead. After the Mavs defeated the Memphis Grizzlies around the same time, Luka Doncic, who has been a big Rangers supporter, gave his thoughts on the recent win and pushed back on the idea that they lost Game 2 because of him being in attendance.
“See? Rangers 2-1,” Doncic said, as if to say everything’s going to be just fine. “Actually, that’s Dirk’s fault, so blame it on Dirk, not me.”
Doncic and Mavs legend Dirk Nowitzki have been seen at two Rangers’ postseason games — one in the ALCS against the Houston Astros, and now, one in the World Series — and the team responded by losing both of those games badly.
With the Rangers two wins away from clinching their first title, and the next two games taking place in Phoenix, there’s a chance they’ve already played their last home game of the season. If the Diamondbacks are able to shift the series back to Texas, though, perhaps Doncic and Nowitzki should consider going to a watch party instead of the actual game … you know, just to be safe.
Game 4 of the World Series takes place tonight at 7:03 p.m. CT, and the Mavs will look to keep their undefeated record rolling against the Chicago Bulls in Dallas on Wednesday night.
