Mark Cuban Reveals Ideal Wedding Gift for Mavs Star Luka Doncic

At the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban was asked about what his ideal wedding gift to Luka Doncic would be … and to no one’s surprise, he’s aiming high.
In this story:

Last week, Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic took a big step in his personal life by proposing to his longtime girlfriend Anamaria Goltes. What comes next for the couple is setting a date to tie the knot, planning the actual wedding itself, and perhaps wondering what all their high-profile friends will get them to celebrate the occasion.

When it comes to potential wedding gifts, Mavs owner Mark Cuban might have to be slightly more creative than just giving money, considering that he gave Doncic a five-year, $207 million supermax contract extension nearly two years ago.

As the Mavs navigate their way through the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, Cuban has been present, sitting on the sidelines watching the games with Kyrie Irving, Nico Harrison and Jason Kidd, but he’s also been chatting it up with the media as well.

Brad Parker of The Score caught up with Cuban on the sidelines and asked him a simple question that most Mavs fans might want to know the answer to: “Luka Doncic got engaged. What are you getting him for a wedding gift?”

Cuban deflected a little bit at first, saying, “You know what, I’ve talked to my wife about that. I don’t know yet.”But then came Parker’s follow-up: “If you had to get him one thing…”

In a split second, Cuban thought of the best wedding present he could give Doncic … or at least help him achieve. “A championship,” he answered.

After missing the postseason in what was arguably Doncic’s best statistical season of his career, the Mavs front office knew big changes had to be made this summer. Cuban, Harrison and company responded by re-signing Irving, signing Seth Curry, trading for the draft rights to promising rookies Dereck Lively II and O-Max Prosper, and executing a sign-and-trade for Boston Celtics’ Grant Williams — a trade that could potentially expand before it’s officially completed.

For the Mavs to win a championship, they first must take the step of becoming a playoff team again. After surrounding his star duo with better talent this offseason, with more moves potentially on the way, perhaps Cuban can deliver on his ideal wedding gift to Doncic, even if the package is running a little late.
