NBA Betting Odds: Mavs Trade Favorites for Deandre Ayton?

The Dallas Mavericks have been involved in Deandre Ayton trade rumors for months, and the latest NBA betting odds have them as the favorites to land the former No. 1 overall pick.

With the NBA Draft less than two weeks away, trade rumors will start to heat up. The Dallas Mavericks have been involved in several rumors already, especially when it comes to Phoenix Suns big man Deandre Ayton.

The vibes with Ayton in Phoenix have been off over the last two years, and although the Suns have a new coach in Frank Vogel, there’s still a chance he could be traded elsewhere for a fresh start. According to the latest betting odds from Sportsbetting.ag, the Mavs are the favorites to land the former No. 1 overall pick (+300).

Given Kyrie Irving’s relationship with Suns star Kevin Durant, many will try to workout hypothetical sign-and-trade packages to get Irving to Phoenix, but the Mavs plan on re-signing him in free agency. Irving has reportedly already started recruiting for Dallas as well, which is a good sign that he’s likely sticking around for at least another year.

If the Suns are willing to take a trade package that revolved around Tim Hardaway Jr., Maxi Kleber and Reggie Bullock, for example, the Mavs would probably make that sort of deal. The Suns, on the other hand, would likely want at least the Mavs’ No. 10 pick in this year’s draft. At that point, though, is it worth it for Dallas to trade away depth, plus a top-10 pick?

The answer to that is probably ‘no,’ but we’ll find out a lot more about the Mavs’ intentions for their pick in the next 11 days.
