NBA Draft Top 3 Trade Back Options For Mavs

With the Mavericks rumored to looking to move the No. 10 pick, what are the best trade back options in tonight's draft?
In this story:

It's NBA draft day and the Dallas Mavericks sit near the end of the lottery with the No. 10 pick in the first-round.

The Mavs have been one of the more talked about teams leading up to tonight's draft as Dallas has been rumored to be interested in trading back for either multiple picks or a win-now piece that upgrades their defense around Luka Doncic and hopefully Kyrie Irving.

Check out the top-3 trade back options for the Mavs if they choose to part ways with the No. 10 pick.

Atlanta Hawks

Mavericks receive: Clint Capela and No. 15 pick

Hawks receive: Davis Bertans and No. 10 pick

These two teams have been linked together for a little over a week now as the Hawks are both eager to move off of John Collins' contract and move up into the top-10 of tonight's draft with rumors of targeting Duke center Dereck Lively II.

And though Dallas seems to have interest in trading back, it's reportedly Hawks center Clint Capela that the Mavericks would want back in a potential deal with Atlanta to part with the No. 10 pick.

If Atlanta changes their tune and swaps Collins for Capela in the proposed deal, the Mavericks will land the defensive anchor they've been searching for.

Utah Jazz

Mavericks receive: No. 16 pick and No. 28 pick

Jazz receive: No. 10 pick

When it comes to a team ran by Jazz CEO of basketball operations Danny Ainge, you always know that front office will have something up their sleeve. And if Ainge sees a prospect still on the board when Dallas is on the clock at No. 10, you better believe Mavs GM Nico Harrison will receive a phone call.

For Dallas, trading back for a veteran big man is the ideal option but depth is also an issue that the Mavericks must upgrade this offseason. If the opportunity to move back a few spots while adding another first-rounder at No. 28 is on the table, that's an offer that Dallas should seriously consider.

Brooklyn Nets

Mavericks receive: Royce O'Neale and No. 21 pick

Nets receive: Davis Bertans and No. 10 pick

Like the Jazz, the Nets have two first-round picks, sitting back-to-back at No. 21 and No. 22. And if Nets GM Sean Marks and company see a prospect they still on the board at No. 10, they have the ammunition to make a trade up.

For Dallas, trading back to No. 21 while also receiving a versatile 3-and-D wing in Royce O'Neale would add some depth in a spot of weakness for the Mavs which happens to be a strength for Brooklyn.

It's certainly arguable that receiving O'Neale and No. 21 aren't worth the No. 10 but shedding the remaining two years of Bertans' $32 million contract is the cherry on top.
