Mavs-Suns Postgame LISTEN: Doncic Slams Booker For Talking Trash in Finals Seconds

The stars were shining bright at American Airlines Center on Sunday afternoon, but the Dallas Mavericks ultimately fell to the Phoenix Suns, 130-126. Luka Doncic called out Devin Booker for waiting to talk trash when the game was essentially over.

The Dallas Mavericks lost to the Phoenix Suns at American Airlines Center on Sunday afternoon in a star-studded matchup that lived up to every bit of the hype. Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant and Devin Booker all eclipsed the 30-point mark as the Suns ultimately captured a 130-126 win.

With 11 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, Durant hit a tough, contested midrange jumper to give Phoenix a 128-126 lead. Doncic then had a chance to tie the game with a chip-shot floater, but it took an unkind roll off the rim with just three seconds left.

The Mavs-Suns rivalry was already heated, as Dallas bounced Phoenix from the second round of the playoffs in a thrilling seven-game series last season, but the addition of Irving and Durant added even more juice. It was perfectly clear that there was no love lost between Doncic and Booker on Sunday.

After Doncic missed the game-tying attempt, Booker started talking trash with the game essentially being over at that point. Doncic took offense to this, got in Booker's face, and told him to "shut the f*** up," which led to a scrum with many Mavs and Suns players. Even Irving had some words with Booker before it was said and done.

"It's a competitive game. It's all good," Doncic said of his interaction with Booker. "Next time, just don't wait until there's three seconds left to talk."

On this episode of the Mavs Step Back Podcast, we recap the Mavs' highly entertaining game against the Suns, including all the things that had to go wrong for Dallas to lose this one. From there we take a look at the updated Western Conference standings and the Mavs' upcoming schedule.
