Mavs Players Make CBS Sports' NBA Top 100 Rankings

Grant Williams, Kyrie Irving, and Luka Doncic all place in the top 100 on CBS Sports' best NBA players list for the Dallas Mavericks.

Dallas Mavericks stars Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic were obvious choices for CBS's NBA Top 100 player list, placing 35th and 4th respectively. Both players were named as All-Stars last season, and an omission of either of them would have been abhorrent.

Surprisingly though, the two guards were not the only Mavs players added to the prestigious list. Coming in at No. 100 for the second season in a row (first season as a member of the Mavs) was 6-6 forward Grant Williams, who was brought over from the Boston Celtics in a sign-and-trade this summer.

Doncic, after making his fourth consecutive All-NBA First Team, moved up a spot in the rankings from last year. The 6-7 point guard placed ahead of notable players such as Kevin Durant and reigning league MVP Joel Embiid.

Irving, on the other hand, was pushed back even further on the list from the previous year. His 31st rank from last season became 35th after CBS cited his inability to stay on the court due to off-court issues as the main reason.

Williams placed at the 100th spot on the list for the second season in a row. His shooting prowess and defensive prowess for the Celtics in the Eastern Conference playoffs was big for them in a conference finals run. His toughness on the other side of the ball addresses a need for the Mavericks this season, giving him the chance to improve his ranking even further for next season.

Doncic remains as the only Mavericks player on the list who started the season with the team last year – a welcome development for Dallas' fans. The front office hopes that this change brings about a deep playoff run like what we witness during the 2021-22 season.
