Dallas Mavs Star Kyrie Irving Donates $50K to Flint, Michigan Water Crisis Activist

As Dallas Mavericks star Kyrie Irving continues to shine on the court, he's still doing bigger and better things off of it.

Dallas Mavericks star point guard Kyrie Irving has helped his team get off to a nice start this, averaging 20.3 points, 3.8 rebounds and a career-high 7.3 assists per game with Dallas sitting at 6-2 ahead of Friday's matchup with the Los Angeles Clippers.

As talented as Irving is on the basketball court, though, he continues to do bigger and better things off the court. Irving, who has always been generous while making donations to noble causes, recently donated $50,000 to Flint Michigan water crisis activist Mari Copeny.

The GoFundMe accounted, labeled as "Little Miss Flint Clean Water Fund," has 23,500 donations totaling $807,800 with the goal being $1 million.

"Through my previous water donation campaigns, I was able to donate over ONE MILLION bottles of water to families impacted by the Flint Lead Crisis," Copeny writes in her GoFundMe post. "My community needed water they could trust and bottled water was the only resource for drinking water that many in my community trusted. For my new donation campaign, my team has partnered with a socially-responsible water filtration company, which will allow us to maximize the impact of donated funds and eliminate the single use plastic waste that is associated with bottled water."

Irving does these kinds of things often, but he gets little recognition for it in our opinion. And perhaps he likes it better that way. But we applaud his continued efforts to use his wealth to make a difference in this world that needs more kindness toward others.

"I am grateful everyday that GOD put me through all of those tests over the past few years. I was called everything under the sun, as I attempted to bring light to the atrocities/tragedies happening around the world," Irving tweeted a week ago. "I still have more work to do."
