LOOK: Mavs Star Kyrie Irving Reveals Signature ANTA Logo; Meaning Behind It
After spending the better part of a year as a sneaker free agent, Dallas Mavericks star Kyrie Irving signed a long-term deal with Chinese shoe brand ANTA in July. Although Irving's new signature shoes likely won't be available to the public until next spring, his new logo, and the deep meaning behind it, has already been revealed.
On Thursday, Boardroom's Nick DePaula posted a 'first look' of Irving's new ANTA logo, which is a reversed-facing letter 'K' followed by a regular-facing one.
With this unveiling, ANTA explained the inspiration behind the logo, saying, "mirroring the 'K' for Kyrie symbolizes knowing oneself thus forming harmony." The four peaks at the top of the logo stand for "Speed, Focus, Agility and Strength." The two outer edges on the bottom stand for "Father and Mother," and the two sharp points in the bottom-middle part of the logo represents "Family Roots."
Not only did Irving ink a deal to receive a new signature shoe line, but he also signed on to be ANTA's Chief Creative Officer, giving him a lot of unique control over his brand. Given how interesting and popular Irving is, we suspect his new shoes will be a hit among basketball fans worldwide when they eventually drop.
Irving was a free agent in two ways this summer. Before his signed his deal with ANTA in mid-July that effectively took him off the sneaker market, the Mavs re-signed Irving to a three-year, $126 million contract to continue his star backcourt partnership with Luka Doncic.
After experiencing a lot of controversy during his tenure with the Brooklyn Nets, everything has gone right for Irving as a member of the Mavs so far. He'll try to keep that trend going this season, as the Mavs try to climb their way back into contender status with a revamped roster.
