Luka Doncic Foundation Assists Slovenia After 'Catastrophic' Flooding

After experiencing "catastrophic" flooding, Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic is helping his homeland Slovenia through his Luka Doncic Foundation.

Four-time All-NBA First Teamer Luka Doncic is used to dishing out assists to his teammates, whether it's with the Dallas Mavericks or the Slovenia national team. Through his Luka Doncic Foundation, though, Doncic is assisting others off the basketball court.

Slovenia, Doncic's homeland, has experienced torrential rains, which has caused devastating flooding – a "catastrophic" natural disaster as the Slovenia prime minister stated. Doncic is stepping up through his foundation to assist Slovenian authorities in this great time of need.

Here is the official statement from the foundation on Doncic's behalf (h/t Marc Stein): "The Luka Doncic Foundation is heartbroken by the catastrophic flooding that continues to ravage neighborhoods, destroy homes, and claim lives in Slovenia. We are in touch with local authorities to support their relief efforts and will continue to respond to their needs as the situation unfolds.

"We want to express our deepest gratitude to the firefighters and all the first responders on the ground, who are on the front lines risking their lives to help those most affected. Our heart is with all the people of Slovenia who lost their homes and lives in the floods. We are committed to helping in every way."

With a lot weighing on their minds, Doncic and the rest of the Slovenia national team continue to prepare for the FIBA World Cup, which begins on August 25.
