LAS VEGAS — The NBA Summer League serves as a valuable opportunity for players to showcase their abilities to either progress in their development, or to earn a contract. The latest example for the Dallas Mavericks is Taze Moore.

A source confirmed to DallasBasketball.com that Moore will sign an Exhibit 10 contract with the Mavs amid his strong play in Las Vegas.

Moore is averaging 8.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 2.3 assists through four games with the Summer Mavs. He's impressed with his high motor, crashing the boards and making plays in transition.

"He reminds me of Derrick Jones from Chicago. Just maybe two inches smaller, he's earned more minutes," Summer Mavs coach Jared Dudley said after Thursday's practice. "He makes what we call him winning plays. He just does all the right winning plays."

Another member of the Summer Mavs received a contract after producing in Las Vegas. Braxton Key was the first, as he signed a two-way contract with the Denver Nuggets, ending his participation with Dallas' squad at Summer League altogether.

"I've just been proud that when I first came into Summer League was to win games with three. One goal was to get people jobs" Dudley said. "Braxton Key got a two-way contract. We just gave Taze Moore, I believe, an Exhibit 10 contract. So guys are getting deals. Hopefully someone else on our team can get a deal."

"And because of that, I wouldn't be surprised to see Moore in a training camp, if not only for Dallas Mavericks, but another team here to have a chance," Dudley explained.

The Mavs currently have A.J. Lawson and Mike Miles Jr. signed to two-way contract, leaving one spot open at the moment.
