In this story:

Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks play host to the Brooklyn Nets for their home opener on Friday night at the American Airlines Center.

The Mavs opened up their season with a 126-119 crunch time road victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night. Doncic led the way for Dallas with a 33-point, 13-rebound, and 10-assist triple-double in the win while rookie Dereck Lively II had an impressive debut with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

The Nets lost their season opener on Wednesday night in 114-113 loss against the Cleveland Cavaliers as Cam Thomas missed a 3-point look at the buzzer. Thomas led Brooklyn with 36 points off the bench on 13-of-21 shooting from the floor.

Going into Friday night's matchup, both the Mavs and Nets have a clean injury report with no notable injuries.

Player Props / Our Picks

Kyrie Irving O/U 27.5 Points: Over

Kyrie Irving struggled finding his rhythm throughout Wednesday's game but came up big with 10 fourth quarter points to help Dallas clinch the win. But going up against his former team in the Nets, who he left on bad terms, look for the battery in Irving's back to be fully charged and ready to put on a show in the Mavs' home opener.

Luka Doncic O/U 7.5 Assists: Over

Following Doncic's masterful performance in Dallas' opener, the Nets will throw everything but the kitchen sink at him in tonight's game. With defenders such as Ben Simmons and Mikal Bridges hounding him, look for Doncic to create open shots for others and take the over on assists.

Ben Simmons O/U 5.5 Assists: Over

In Brooklyn's season opener on Wednesday, Ben Simmons finished with four points, 10 rebounds, and nine assists. With the right cast of shooters and rim runners around him, Simmons can flourish as an elite playmaker.

Prediction: Both teams are coming off clutch time games on Wednesday as the Nets fell at the buzzer against the Cavaliers. With Irving taking on his former home and the Mavs riding the momentum from Wednesday, look for Dallas to win their second-straight. Take Brooklyn -6.5 but Dallas to win the game.
