NBA Draft Expert Gives Mavs Lottery Primer, Scouting Reports & More

The Dallas Mavericks have a big night awaiting them on Tuesday as the NBA Draft Lottery gets underway, and the Mavs Step Back Podcast had a special guest on to break down everything you need to know.
In this story:

After the Dallas Mavericks enjoy their Mother’s Day weekend, all eyes will be on the NBA Draft Lottery that takes place on Tuesday night. The Mavs have a 3.0-percent chance of snagging the No. 1 overall pick, which would give them the franchise-altering opportunity to pair touted prospect Victor Wembanyama alongside four-time All-NBA First Teamer Luka Doncic … and hopefully Kyrie Irving as well, depending on how his free agency goes.

On today’s episode of the Mavs Step Back Podcast, NBA Draft expert Richard Stayman, also known by many as @MavsDraft on Twitter, joined the show to talk about Dallas’ percentage chances for each pick and which prospects should be considered in those spots.

If the Mavs are fortunate enough to get the No. 1 overall pick, they should probably select Wembanyama and run, although the potential trade offers they’d receive from opposing teams in that scenario would be large. If Dallas jumps in the draft order to get the second, third or fourth pick, though, should a trade down for more assets be considered given the depth of this particular class? And what about if they stay at No. 10?

We discuss all of those topics at length while also mapping out ways the Mavs can effectively build their roster around Doncic and Irving. You can watch or listen to the entire conversation here:
