Injury Update: Will Jazz Star Lauri Markkanen Play vs. Dallas Mavs?
SALT LAKE CITY — The Dallas Mavericks are set to take on the Utah Jazz on Monday night at Delta Center, marking the beginning of a five-game Western Conference road trip. It will be the Mavs' second consecutive game against the Jazz following Thursday's 113-97 victory at American Airlines Center.
Luka Doncic set the tone for the Mavs by recording 34 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists in 35 minutes. Daniel Gafford racked up 24 points, seven rebounds, and five assists, with all of his made field goals being dunks. Kyrie Irving (16 points) and Derrick Jones Jr. (12 points) also scored double figures for Dallas.
The Jazz submitted an injury report before Monday's rematch, stating that Lauri Markkanen (right quadriceps contusion) is questionable to play. Jordan Clarkson (right groin strain) is questionable, too.
Markkanen was sidelined for Utah's 147-119 loss against the Houston Rockets on Saturday. It remains to be seen if he'll be available to play against the Mavs, but he entered Thursday's game as questionable to play before being designated as active. Against Dallas, he recorded 21 points, three rebounds, and two assists, but shot just 6-10 (30.0%) from the floor and 1-9 (11.1%) on 3-point attempts.
The Mavs' injury report includes Josh Green (right ankle sprain) remaining sidelined, with Maxi Kleber (right knee soreness) considered questionable to play.
