Earlier this past summer, Kevin Durant shook the NBA landscape by leaving the Golden State Warriors in free agency to join the Brooklyn Nets with his friend, Kyrie Irving. Durant, aside from one postgame blemish in the Oklahoma City Thunder's 2016 playoff series with the Dallas Mavericks, has always had encouraging things to say about the Mavs from afar, whether it be related to Dirk Nowitzki or Luka Doncic. Recently, Durant continued that trend when he did a live video interview with Dallas media member, Chris Henderson.

"I'm looking forward to seeing those two come together," said Durant of Mavs’ Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis. "I think they've got something brewing down there (in Dallas). Mark Cuban is always going to support his guys and put them in the best position (to win), so that's a franchise I'm definitely watching the next few years."

"I think (Doncic) was raised in an environment, a basketball environment, that taught him how to play the ins-and-outs of the game, first," said Durant of why Doncic has been able to dominate the game at such a young age. "You don't see guys at that age learn the pick-and-roll, manipulating the game the way he does. He can control a full game at that age, (and) that's rare."

"I'm expecting huge things from him going forward," said Durant. "A superstar career going forward."

"As for (Porzingis), his name says it all, his nickname being the 'Unicorn,'" said Durant of Porzingis, who the Mavs just re-signed to a 5-year, $158 million contract this past summer. “(He's) a guy that can do so many things at that height and that agility." As Henderson noted in the interview, Durant was the guy who initially gave Porzingis the "Unicorn" nickname back in 2016.
