NBA 2K24 Ratings: Mavs' Luka Doncic Too Low?

Heading into the release of NBA 2K24, Mavs superstar Luka Doncic is one of the league's highest rated players.
In this story:

As an NBA player, there are several accolades that most guys care about: winning a championship, individual awards, and honors such as the All-NBA teams.

But, there's one less-serious thing that might cause more of a discussion on social media this time of year than those accolades listed above: NBA 2K player ratings.

On Wednesday, NBA 2K began announcing player ratings for the top 12 players in the association with Denver Nuggets' two-time MVP Nikola Jokic coming in on top with the highest rating at 98 overall following his NBA Finals MVP run this past season.

Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic landed with a 95 overall rating, which is tied for the third-highest rating in the entire league.

Doncic is joined by Celtics' Jayson Tatum and Heat's Jimmy Butler in the 95 overall rating category. Outside of Jokic at 98 overall, players posting a 96 overall rating were Bucks' Giannis Antetokounmpo, Lakers' LeBron James, 76ers' Joel Embiid, Suns' Kevin Durant, and Warriors' Steph Curry.

Doncic's rating starting off at 95 for 2K24 is interesting, as he finished off the 2022-23 season at a 97 overall in NBA 2K23.

You can imagine the Mavs missing the playoffs potentially hindered Doncic's rating heading into NBA 2K24, but with his star power growing, and Dallas having a revamped roster, expect for that 95 overall rating to jump up a few points by the end of the 2023-24 season.
