In this story:

The Dallas Mavericks are at the center of the news after striking a deal that happens to be the biggest in NBA history. It's not for a good reason, either.

That's right -- the Mavericks are on the bad end of the massive trade that sent Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers. While the club returned Anthony Davis, a superstar in the NBA, losing out on a generational talent will hurt the organization for years to come.

The worst part? The Mavericks didn't need to make the move. Doncic didn't ask for a trade. In fact, he was blindsided by the trade. The club let him know after the deal was struck.

Rightfully so, Doncic feels betrayed by the Mavericks. He was the franchise superstar. He led the squad to the Western Conference Finals twice and the NBA Finals just last season. Now, he's a Laker and will be suiting up in purple and gold the next time he's on the hardwood.

In fact, since the trade, Doncic hasn't spoken to anyone within the Mavericks organization. Again, that's warranted. What's the reason, though?

"My guess is he probably doesn't want to talk to me," Harrison said in a recent interview with The News.

Evidently, that's Harrison's best judgment call in the past month. Trading Doncic? Huge mistake. Thinking it makes them a better contending squad? Wrong. However, Harrison is right that Doncic probably doesn't want to talk to him, nor anyone within the Mavericks organization.

While there will be some spite, Doncic will be playing alongside LeBron James in Los Angeles -- and will even have a shot at revenge later this season.

Throughout the rest of his career, this move won't be lost on Doncic, nor anyone watching his games or following his tenure with the Lakers.
