According to former NBA player and SiriusXM NBA Radio host Eddie Johnson, the Dallas Mavericks are the "most dangerous team that any team in the playoffs will face."

If you're an NBA team getting ready for the playoffs, you want to be playing your best basketball going into the tournament. The Dallas Mavericks are certainly doing that, as they've won 14 of their last 16 games while posting the league's No. 1 defense during that span.

On a Monday segment of SiriusXM NBA Radio, former player Eddie Johnson acknowledged how hot the Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving's Mavs have been, and even went as far as saying they are "the most dangerous team" in the playoffs.

“Look, to me right now, and this is over Denver, to me, [Dallas is] the most dangerous team that any team that's in the playoffs will face,” Johnson said. “They're the most dangerous.

“Now, Denver has an advantage with execution, but you know what? You can at least understand that and attack execution. You can see it. Now, the hard part is stopping it, but you see it, you know what you have to do. With Dallas, you have no idea. That's the problem. You have no idea. You have no idea when Kyrie drives right that, he can spin left and then shoot a hook. Like, you ain't ready for that. You just hope he misses.

“Luka, I mean with his unorthodox shooting and then his uncanny ability to just see stuff off the dribble in traffic, which is different than Jokic," Johnson continued. "Jokic's passing is from a standstill almost. It's like from being anchored in certain areas on the floor. Dare you double, dare you even try, and I'll pick you apart. With Luka, it's like, I'm gonna do all these turns and twists to get to the rim. And I dare you, try me. I still see the floor. That's stuff that you can't really sit there and gameplan against. That's what's scary about them.”

Before the trade deadline, the Mavs lacked the defensive personnel to be considered true title contenders, but the additions of Daniel Gafford and P.J. Washington have changed that. Not only have those two players performed well and gotten more comfortable with each passing game, but their presence has moved other guys on the roster into more suitable roles.

With Doncic and Irving leading the way, and difference-makers like Gafford, Washington, Derrick Jones Jr., Dante Exum, Dereck Lively II and others surrounding them, the Mavs have great depth that they hope will help lead them to an extended run in the playoffs. If the Mavs have shown us anything over the last two months, it's that any seven-game against them will be a tough battle.
