Allen Iverson on Mavs Star Kyrie Irving: 'He's Got Best Handles!'
Few people know what it's like to have elite handles like NBA Hall-of-Fame legend Allen Iverson.
His ability to handle the basketball allowed a six-foot guard to become one of the better scorers the league has seen, as he was a four-time scoring champion among his long list of accomplishments. But when Iverson was asked about Kyrie Irving's handles on "The Big Podcast" with Shaquille O'Neal and Adam Lefkoe, he had the highest praise for Dallas Mavericks star guard Kyrie Irving.
"He got the best," Iverson said of Irving. "He's the best...Kyrie will have you beat, and then bring it back and play with it. He's toying with people."
Iverson is an NBA Hall-of-Famer, 11-time All-Star, two-time All-Star MVP, made the All-NBA team seven times, won Rookie of the Year in 1996-97 and won the MVP in 2000-01. Iverson was also named to the NBA 75th Anniversary team, so his take on Irving holds a lot of weight.
Iverson also has high praise for Steph Curry's handles, but also noted that his ability to shoot from anywhere on the court gives him more of an edge with his ballhandling compared to other players.
NBA Legends Impressed By Mavs Trade Additions: 'They're Scary!'
"Steph, his jumper gets him over a lot," Iverson said. "He crosses halfcourt [and] he can let it go."
Irving's handles have long been thought as being the best in NBA history, but for someone like Iverson, who is also one of the best ball handlers ever, to say the Mavs' guard has the best he has ever seen ... that's when you know it's true.
