Mavs Draft Pick Olivier-Maxence Prosper ‘Felt Love From The Jump’
After all the rumors and speculation, the Dallas Mavericks did indeed have themselves a busy night on Thursday during the NBA draft.
The Mavs not only traded No. 10 along with Davis Bertans to acquire No. 12 from the Thunder, which ended up landing Duke center Dereck Lively II in Dallas, but they also traded back into the first round to acquire center Richaun Holmes and the No. 24 pick from the Kings, where Dallas selected Marquette forward Olivier-Maxence Prosper.
Prosper, or OMax, as he goes by, found himself shooting up draft boards through the process following the NBA combine. With his stout ability on the defensive end of the floor and improved 3-point stroke, Prosper will be able to step in on day one and play a role for the Mavericks, who drastically need another reliable perimeter defender after trading Dorian Finney-Smith.
Speaking to the media following being drafted, Prosper spoke on his workout in Dallas, where he 'felt the love from the jump'.
"When I came in to work out with them a couple weeks ago, I just felt the love from the jump, and definitely felt like a place I can call home," Prosper said. "I’m so glad I’m coming to Dallas."
Prior to the Sacramento Kings selecting Prosper with the No. 24 pick, he said that Mavs GM Nico Harrison called him to let him know that he was heading to Dallas. “I told you, OMax, I was going to make this happen,” Harrison told Prosper.
Mavs GM Nico Harrison did indeed make it happen and overall, had a very successful draft night and start to what will be a busy offseason.
