Source: Mavs Have 'High Praise' for Prospect Anthony Black After Pre-NBA Draft Workout

This year's NBA Draft is so deep, that it would be hard for the Dallas Mavericks to make a 'wrong' selection with the No. 10. Could Arkansas' Anthony Black be their guy?
In this story:

With the NBA Draft being exactly two weeks from now, the Dallas Mavericks, who own the No. 10 pick, are in the midst of doing their homework on the wide variety of highly-talented prospects this year's class presents.

One of those prospects is Arkansas guard Anthony Black, who averaged 12.8 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 2.1 steals in 36 games for the Razorbacks in his freshman season. Aside from his glorious hair, Black has a lot more to offer as a big, 6-foot-7, 200-pound guard. He has incredible court vision, is a menace on the defensive end, and the Duncanville, TX native has the Mavs' attention.

Black participated in a pre-draft workout for the Mavs earlier this week, and one source tells DallasBasketball.com that they "really liked" what they saw and had "high praise" for him afterwards.

One perceived weakness in Black's game is his 3-point shooting, as he shot just 30.1 percent from deep in his time at Arkansas. However, that was a small sample size for the freshman, as he averaged just 2.6 shots from deep per game. Black's shooting mechanics look sound in some of his recent pre-draft video clips, though, so the improved shooting from 3-point range should improve with time and more reps.

Given everything else Black does to affect winning, the Mavs likely aren't too concerned with his shooting from deep. In today's NBA, you can never have too many 6-foot-7 guards who can play at multiple positions on both sides of the court. It's great to have big 3-and-D wings, but as the Mavs have found out over the last two seasons, it can be difficult at times if those guys can't dribble. Black has a high basketball IQ, and he'd be able to help Dallas from day one.

Oh yeah, and did we mention Black shares the same agent as Mavs superstar Luka Doncic in Billy Duffy? That's probably another important tidbit of information to keep in mind if Black is available when the Mavs are on the clock at No. 10 in two weeks.
