Mavs Trade Rumor: Dallas Has Interest in Raptors’ Bruce Brown
Although most of the NBA trade rumors and reports have the Dallas Mavericks looking for power-forward and center upgrades, they’re apparently casting out a wide net beyond that with two weeks remaining until the trade deadline.
According to HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto, the Mavs have trade interest in 6-4 guard/forward Bruce Brown, who was recently traded from the Indiana Pacers to the Toronto Raptors in exchange for Pascal Siakam.
Dallas reportedly had interest in signing Brown in free agency last summer, as did other teams around the league, but Indiana’s two-year, $45 million offer blew everyone out of the water. Now, though, the Mavs could potentially trade for Brown while getting off contracts that equal his $22 million salary for the 2023-24 season. That is, assuming Toronto is reasonable to deal with.

In 36 games this season, Brown is averaging 11.9 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.9 assists while shooting 48.1 percent overall and 32.4 percent from deep. The sixth-year veteran played a huge role in the Denver Nuggets’ championship run last season, and although he alone wouldn’t elevate the Mavs to title contention, trading for him could be a step in the right direction.
