Game Preview and Injury Report: Brooklyn Nets vs Miami Heat
The Brooklyn Nets look to bounce back from their three-straight losses with another game against the Miami Heat.
The Nets have shown some positive signs in the previous games despite losing three straight contests. The first of those three losses was against the Miami Heat who they are facing for the third time already this season.
This game will be challenging for Brooklyn as they still need their starting backcourt pair, Ben Simmons and Cameron Thomas. On the other hand, the Heat have continued to win games and maintained their status as one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference.
"I have an extreme fondness for Bam, his ability, what he's turned himself into as a player, All-Star now," Coach Jacque Vaughn said about the Heat's Bam Adebayo. "His ability to do and Clax can do what Bam does whether it's pushing it in transition, protecting the rim."
The Nets defense will be tested again
The Heat has been stellar on offense, spearheaded by Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo. However, the Heat have showcased they're not just reliant on their stars as role players like Haywood Highsmith and rookie Jaime Jaquez Jr. have been quite reliable with their offensive capabilities.
Mikal Bridges will have tough matchups in this game as he will have to switch onto Butler and other wings like Highsmith and Jacquez. Nic Claxton will also be crucial in this game as he usually plays in the drop coverage during the pick-and-roll. Clax will balance defending Adebayo in the point and function as the Nets' rim protector.
It will be a tough matchup for the Nets, but if they can defend well, they can take this game if they hit their shots. The game against the Atlanta Hawks was a good sign they are doing better on offense, but they need to be more formidable on defense.
Injury report
The Nets are still without three vital players on their roster, Ben Simmons, Cameron Thomas, and Dennis Smith Jr. This means they will continue to play with Spencer Dinwiddie and Dorian Finney-Smith in the starting lineup.
The Heat's injury report involves four players with R.J Hampton still out with an injured knee, Tyler Herro recovering from his ankle injury, and Duncan Robinson dealing with a thumb ailment. Lastly, Dru Smith has been ruled out for the rest of the season with an ACL injury.
