Mikal Bridges and Cam Johnson are part of the pool for Team USA's squad for the 2024 Olympics
Mikal Bridges and Cameron Johnson had a long summer recently, representing Team USA in Asia. It was disappointing for the squad due to their fourth-place finish, but it has proven that both players can be relied on for international hoops.
The partnership between the players has worked out well for a commitment like international basketball during the Olympics. Based on what the duo achieved in the summer, Steve Kerr and the rest of Team USA can consider choosing Mikal, Cam, or even both.
The Twins have learned well
With their experience of playing on the big stages of international basketball, Mikal and Cam made strides in their development. The duo was part of a squad filled with high-level players but still stood out and contributed using their defense and perimeter shooting.
It is more of a star-studded roster, which can be an issue for Bridges and Johnson if they want to make it to the final squad. It is challenging to go against big names like Damian Lillard and LeBron James, but Mikal and Cam have proven their work ethic and ability to reach their goals.
Team USA has plenty of big names and opportunities to learn. While the former Villanova Kentucky products are ready to contribute, they will likely be bench players. The USA team wants to exact revenge on their opponents from the 2023 FIBA World Cup and win another Gold medal for the States.
Will they make it?
There is hope both players can make the final squad, but Mikal will likely be the only one called up. He fits seamlessly into Steve Kerr’s system as a three-and-D wing who can run isolations when needed.
Cam is a superb player in his own right, but he is more of a role player. He can shoot the three-ball well, but he does not reach the same All-Star heights as the other players in the pool.
The two Nets players will want to make the team, but just getting called up is also an honor. It is the recognition for their hard work and dedication to the game, especially with how the duo has played well since they were in Phoenix and today, in Brooklyn.
