Brooklyn Nets Shine in Well-Rounded Win, Extending Streak to Three Games
The Brooklyn Nets won the final game of the In-Season Tournament group stage run to improve to a 3-1 record and a 9-8 regular season tally (winning three straight). They secured a 115-103 victory against the Toronto Raptors; however, the point differential fell short, preventing them from qualifying for the Tournament's knockout stage.
Despite the setback in the In-Season Tournament, the Nets delivered an impressive game, showcasing a well-rounded performance. Five players scored in double-digits, with Spencer Dinwiddie and Mikal Bridges leading with 23 and 22 points, respectively.
“We just ended up making the right plays at the end. Whether that was sharing the basketball, which we did all night, getting guys in the position to shoot the basketball. I think overall, we had a good balance of attacking the rim and shooting threes tonight,” Coach Jacque Vaughn said in his post-game press conference. “Defensively, we were sound. Our bigs were phenomenal tonight, Nic and Day’Ron coming over to protect the rim.”
The Nets are finding the right formula
Even without Cameron Thomas and Ben Simmons in the lineup, the Nets are finding the right formula. They have become more assertive on offense, emphasizing kick-outs and cuts. Yet, the pace isn't as brisk as it was with Ben in the lineup, reflected by their limited scoring of 14 fast break points in this game.
The squad also demonstrated their impressive teamwork, showcasing great cohesion. Dinwiddie excelled in playmaking, recording eight assists in this game, while Bridges and Royce O’Neale contributed with five and four assists.
Brooklyn has momentum for future games
This performance highlights the Nets' ability to compete against teams with formidable frontcourts, signaling positive growth in their season, especially as star players like Mikal Bridges and Nic Claxton find their stride.
They continue the regular season on the 30th of November, again at Barclays Center as they play against the LaMelo Ball-less Charlotte Hornets.
