Cam Johnson believes the Nets are on a "building process" after the loss to the Kings

After riding through the hype and extreme positivity that allowed them to win six of their last seven games, the Brooklyn Nets suddenly got humbled at the start of their West Coast trip.

Playing against the Kings in front of the raucous Golden 1 Center, the Nets’ belief of themselves having a top-notch offense was denied. In what could have been a battle of two high-powered scoring teams, it became a one-sided affair as the Kings detonated in courtesy of their franchise-setting record 25 triples.

Brooklyn got manhandled. They weren't able to match the Kings’ scoring, and their horrifying defense failed to save them once again. The doubts are already kicking in with four more huge games left on their road plate.

Continue building

In the wake of the lowly defeat and the looming uncertainty that lies beyond their forthcoming games, Cam Johnson stands insightful and is keeping his head high for Brooklyn.

It might be a bitter beatdown, but the wingman believes that it will always be day-to-day progress between him and the Nets as the season continues to roll.

“It's a building process. 22 games in, 60 to go. So you take the positives, take the negatives. You learn and put it in the bank,” he said. “You know, it's a long season. Look back at this time last season, look at the standings, and look how everything shakes out. No telling. It's about who learns the best, who's able to keep it together, who's able to keep their mentality high camaraderie high, and able to continue to climb that ladder. So I think that's what we're building for."

“Obviously, we want to win every single game, but the reality is you want to be the team that you want to be at the end of the day. We're working towards that there are some things we can take from this game to apply to that.”

Are the Nets up to the challenge?

Amid the defeat, the Nets are still clinging to a positive 12-9 record.

But this win-loss card is truly about to be tested. Up next is a Wednesday matchup against the Phoenix Suns — a reunion for Mikal Bridges and Cam Johnson to their former team. After that, they'll travel to the Mile High City and face the defending champ Denver Nuggets on Thursday.

They'll return to California to face the Golden State Warriors on Saturday and will conclude the road swing by facing the Utah Jazz.

The upcoming games are truly daunting. But if Johnson and the Nets are truly asking for growth within themselves, these are great tests to hone their season.
