Cameron Thomas has broken out as one of the league’s best scorers, and on top of it, he’s only 22 years old. The Brooklyn Nets heavily rely on Cam’s scoring ability to help propel the team back to the Playoff picture.

Of course, it’s a heavy responsibility for such a young player, but the former LSU Tiger embraces the pressure. With his continued growth, Thomas earned a spot in Complex’s best players under 24 years old for his contributions to the Nets organization.

“There's not many names on this list that can even come close to having three straight 40-point games in a week,” Complex’s Zion Olojede and Kameron Hay wrote. “He's capable of averaging 27 points per game in a season if he's given the keys to an offense for a season, but we just haven't seen the opportunity come yet.”

Cam’s scoring potential can propel him to superstardom

Nowadays, the NBA is mostly about star players who can score and contribute in other offensive areas. Scoring guards are often tapped to become spark plugs off the bench or isolation scorers as starters. Cam is a scoring guard who’s often mislabeled by pundits as a sixth man.

At the moment, he is playing off the bench, but everyone in the Nets organization and fanbase knows that Thomas will be a building block for the long-term future. He has already showcased his scoring ability with multiple 40+ point games in his career, which he can sustain when allowed to shine.

In Brooklyn, Coach Jacque Vaughn and his staff know Cam’s explosive scoring can be the primary reason why they win every game. JV just wants more support for Cam on defense because the 22-year-old will get hunted on that end of the floor.

The NBA world is underestimating Cam

Ranked 19th on Complex’s list, Cam Thomas may be underestimated, considering he's arguably the best young scorer after Anthony Edwards and Paolo Banchero. Despite being in just his third season, Thomas showcases advanced scoring skills across all three levels and is evolving into a playmaker.

Looking ahead, this ranking could serve as a motivation for Cam to become an offensive juggernaut and a perennial All-Star for the Nets, given the right opportunities from Coach Vaughn, propelling him to the upper echelon of guards in the league.
