Cam Thomas Recovery Update: Anticipated Details Revealed by Nets Head Coach
The Brooklyn Nets’ inconsistent performances and impending challenging matchups in the next few days left many wondering about Cam Thomas’ whereabouts in his ongoing healing process.
While the scoring sensation will still remain unavailable for the next two weeks as he has to nurse his left ankle sprain, Nets fans remain eager to know his current recovery stage, and if there's a chance that a return will arrive earlier.
On Sunday, Jacque Vaughn was asked about Thomas’ recovery phase so far. As such, the Nets head coach can only be blunt in his response pertaining to the resting two-guard.
Next update: TBD
Vaughn told the media that Brooklyn will provide a much clearer update about Thomas' recovery this week.
Considering the recovery timeline, Vaughn recognized the importance for Thomas to maintain his fitness, ensuring a smooth return to the court without encountering additional physical setbacks.
"We'll give you a more detailed update this week,” Vaughn said. “But just going through the process of getting back on the floor, so whether that's doing the rehab behind the scenes, trying to stay in some semblance of shape, so that once he is back in the fold that it’s not too much of a ground that he's got to make up. But it's tough to stay in shape when you're dealing with lower extremities.”
Lonnie Walker IV stepping up
For now, the Nets can only keep their patience intact and continue fighting with their available pieces. While Thomas’ 26.9 points average will continue to be sorely missed, Brooklyn still has plenty of units to be relied on offensively.
Thankfully enough, the Nets are receiving a strong scoring punch from sixth-man gunner Lonnie Walker IV, who has been averaging 16.6 points in 22.5 minutes of play for 12 games.
The fact that Thomas already echoed his stance that he's looking to deliver a tear so that he can be able to head back as soon as possible, Nets fans can at least have a sigh of relief that the young guard is doing his best in his rehabbing stage.
