Brooklyn’s win against the Cleveland Cavaliers was a promising result because Coach Kevin Ollie’s squad showed their improvements on offense. It was a well-rounded performance, as Cameron Thomas stood out with 29 points.

Overall, the Nets dished out 33 assists, proving the team has the potential to be an improved offensive team. Dennis Schroder was a big part of the offense flowing well, as he dished out eight assists on top of scoring 17 points.

“I think when we make shots, everyone is positive, communicating at the highest level. I think we have to keep doing that, even though when we don’t shoot the ball great, the communication piece gotta be on the highest level, every single game,” Schroder said after the win against Cleveland.

“Started on the defensive end, we got stops. Wanted the ball, getting it out quickly, getting rebounds, kicking ahead. Cam Thomas and Mikal did a great job of being aggressive.”

The Brooklyn offense has a couple of stars

Cam Thomas and Mikal Bridges have good chemistry as the Nets’ top stars, boosting the team’s offense. Thomas is the traditional go-to scorer who could isolate against defenders and make the tough shots. Mikal is thriving in a role where he can be a go-to scorer, but he’s moving well off the ball and capitalizing on the attention Cam gets.

Schroder is thriving as the primary playmaker for both of these stars, which has helped Brooklyn compete against good teams. However, they must show up even in the games against lower-seeded teams, considering they lost three games to those teams over the past week.

Coach Ollie has figured out his offense

Capitalizing on Thomas, Bridges, and Schroder works well for Coach Ollie because they win more games when everyone is active. However, the team is still losing games due to the squad’s inconsistency with pace and energy. Coach Ollie must continue to motivate the team to play like “hunters” to reach their goal of making it into the Play-In Tournament.

Schroder already gave the blueprint the Nets should work towards, as Brooklyn is a better team when everyone plays with energy. It can elevate the team to another level and help them win more games in the final weeks.
