Dorian Finney-Smith won't be playing for the Brooklyn Nets’ road matchup against the Milwaukee Bucks this Thursday. Per C.J. Holmes of the New York Daily News, Doe-Doe is inactive due to a left ankle soreness.

Background of Dorian's ankle injury

The said ankle injury was also the one indicated for DFS in the Nets' past two injury reports when they faced both the San Antonio Spurs and the New Orleans Pelicans. The left ankle soreness tag for Finney-Smith only appeared when they faced the Spurs last Sunday. As such, this might suggest that the veteran forward sustained it last Saturday against the Indiana Pacers.

But interestingly, DFS was able to finish the 121-100 defeat against the Pacers without taking an early exit as he tallied 12 points and four boards while shooting a perfect 5-of-5 from the field for 26 minutes of play.

A needed rest

Dorian struggled in the team's 120-100 loss against the Pels, in which he ended up with only 2 points and an abysmal 0-of-6 field goal in 28 minutes. The Nets might have taken necessary action to at least allow the wingman to take a rest and recover his ankle.

This would mark the first time since Feb. 8 against the Cleveland Cavaliers that DFS will sit out for Brooklyn. Cam Johnson stands as the prime candidate who may seize a temporary maximized workload upon the forward’s unavailability.

Finney-Smith, 30, is averaging 8.8 points, 4.7 boards, and 42.1 percent efficiency for 60 games this season.
