Dorian Finney-Smith is a consummate professional and the veteran wing fully understands that he is currently enjoying a career year offensively for the Brooklyn Nets. He also acknowledges the high demand for his service as a reputable 3-and-D wing, with several teams monitoring his probable trade availability.

But when he was tapped by coach Jacque Vaughn to move off the bench to insert Cam Thomas in the starting lineup in early December, he didn't lose his mind about the role move he had to commit to.

A winning sacrifice

For Dorian, it's always about the team and winning over anything else.

As he played off the bench in the team's last eight games with Thomas slotted at his starting position, the forward didn't find hardship in embracing the demotion that Vaughn had chosen for him.

"Oh, it wasn't difficult at all, man. If that's what they think is going to help us be successful, then I'm with it," Finney-Smith said. "As long as I'm on the [floor], I can get on the court and play and play my minutes hard. That's all I can focus on. If we win, everybody's happy."

A coveted piece for Vaughn's team

Doe-Doe's positive attitude truly reflects the best offensive season he has had in his career this 2023-24 season.

Finney-Smith is shooting a career-best 43.9 percent out of 5.5 attempts per game from beyond the arc. He is averaging 10.3 points and 5.1 boards in 24 games (17 starts) this season.

Having a player DFS who can be depended upon at any time with his reliability, versatility, and shooting skills is such a blessing. In the Nets' desire to pursue progress and success this season, he is truly a pivotal puzzle piece due to what he brings to the table.
