Former Knick Lance Thomas on Nets radar to fill void at SF

Forget Carmelo Anthony, the Brooklyn Nets have better plans in mind.
According to Mark Berman of the New York Post, the Nets are kicking the tires on signing Lance Thomas to fill-in for the recently suspended Wilson Chander, who will miss 25 games for PED use.
General manager Sean Marks met with reporters are Tuesday and while the majority of the questions pertained to the Nets and their likelihood of signing Anthony, Marks admitted he's keeping his options open.
“I will say we will do our due diligence on everybody,” said GM Sean Marks, via SNY. “We’ve looked at multiple players, we’ve brought in several players, whether it was throughout the summer for pickup and they’ve come in on their own accord. It’s documented that guys were playing together in L.A. (with Anthony), so for us, I think we’ll use our Exhibit 10s, we’ll use training camp in which to try and figure it out, whether it’s two-way spots and so forth. We’ll use that to figure out where we go.”
The Nets open training camp Friday and Nets Insider's Justin Rimpi is projecting the starting 5 to go as follows: PG Kyrie Irving, SG Joe Harris, SF Caris LeVert, PF Taurean Prince, and C DeAndre Jordan. With Thomas in the fold, he provides a defensive presence off the bench and a rotational player with proven experience in the league.
Thomas is not known as a knock-down shooter or scorer for that matter, but his effort and intangibles on the defensive end of the floor and scrappiness wouldn't be overlooked in Brooklyn.
