The Brooklyn Nets are no longer considered championship contenders after trading away Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, but they still do have playoff hopes. Entering the day 34-26, the Nets are the Eastern Conference's 6th seed, and sit two full games above the 7th seed Miami Heat.

If the Nets can avoid the play-in, they are likely looking at a first round matchup vs. the Philadelphia 76ers, which gives them a shot. Should they fall into the play-in, not only is making the playoffs in jeopardy, but a first round series vs. Milwaukee or Boston feels like a death sentence. Needless to say, every game is important for the Nets going forward.

In Tuesday night's game vs. the Bucks, Brooklyn will be without Ben Simmons and Edmond Sumner. The Bucks will be without only Wesley Mathews, as Giannis Antetokounmpo is probable to play.

The Bucks are the hottest team in basketball, having won their last 14 games. Milwaukee has overtaken the Boston Celtics for the NBA's best record, and have shown no signs of slowing down. This will be a very tough matchup for a Nets team that is trying to hang onto their playoff spot.

It never projected to be easy for Brooklyn after trading away their two stars, but there is optimism around the organization that their current group can compete on any night.
