In this story:

At the start of the 2023/24 season, Nets head coach Jacque Vaughn preached the importance of EGB. At first, it meant "Energy Generating Behavior," which means he wants to see the team play for each other and generate positive energy that they can use to win games.

However, EGB means even more now, as Vaughn also wanted to highlight that it also means "Everyone Getting Better." That has been apparent in recent performances because the Nets are not showing any sign of selfishness, as they want to keep winning by making each other better, as evidenced by their 26.1 assists per game as a team.

"First thing we talked about was truth and transparency and being able to live in that space," Vaughn said. "But can we create a special place here where that's acceptable?... It's one of the most empowering things that you have; it's the freedom of choice, very single day."

Making each other better

You will see the EGB scheme at work every time you watch the Nets. There's no selfish play here; each player owns their role, working together towards a shared goal of winning games and improving their playoff position.

Mikal Bridges is pivotal on both ends of the floor, serving as the primary contributor. Supporting him, Nic Claxton fulfills a crucial role as the defensive anchor and presence in the paint.

Cameron Thomas is the team's best isolation scorer, as he can get the Nets out of a hole by bailing them out with his scoring ability.

Everyone is playing for each other, and that's what Coach Vaughn loves seeing from his team. No one is getting left behind because every player imakesthe right play and ffulfillstheir roles.

The Nets look good for the foreseeable future

While the Nets do not have the same superstar power as they had when they had Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and James Harden, this team is exentertainingo watch, with the potential through the roof.

Coach Vaughn has successfully cultivated a positive mindset throughout the team, emphasizing that if every player contributes effectively, the Nets are poised for success. The roster boasts a wealth of talent, extending from the starters to the two-way contract players.

By preaching EGB, those who get the opportunities will shine because they’ve done the hard work behind the scenes while their teammates encourage them to shine.
