Injury Reports: Brooklyn Nets vs. Atlanta Hawks
The Brooklyn Nets are looking to rebound after their worst performance of the season. The Nets, who suffered a brutal defeat to the Chicago Bulls in a game they scored a season-low 87 points, the team is eyeing a needed road win in Atlanta.
The Nets will, once again, be without point forward Ben Simmons for the Sunday afternoon matchup. Simmons, who is dealing with left knee soreness, was ruled out before Friday's loss and had his knee drained recently. In addition to the concerning update, he underwent a PRP injection for the banged-up knee.
"It's frustrating," Simmons said. "But it's something that's an injury I've never dealt with before. So it's something I'm learning about, that we're learning about.
"I didn't have a normal All-Star [break]. I was rehabbing the whole time still, after the PRP. So my break was just rehabbing and it was trying to get back out there. And then obviously, we played 5-on-5 three days ago, four days ago, which was good. But [I] wasn't moving, I didn't move and didn't have that strength."
Brooklyn will also be without two-way guards David Duke Jr. (G League - Two-Way) and Dru Smith (G League - Two Way). Both guards will be with the Nets' G League affiliate, the Long Island Nets.
For the Atlanta Hawks, the team can be at full strength for the matchup. The Hawks have listed John Collins (low back tightness) as questionable. There is no further update on the Hawks' big man's status at the time of this writing. Similar to Brooklyn, Atlanta has assigned two-way guard Donovan Williams (G League - Two-Way) and Tyrese Martin (G League Assignment) to their NBA G League affiliate, the College Park Skyhawks.
