Injury Reports: Brooklyn Nets vs. Chicago Bulls
The Brooklyn Nets play their first game since the NBA All-Star break on Friday night. The team has traveled to Chicago to face the Chicago Bulls with hopes of snapping a season-worst three-game losing streak. And there are some surprises to Brooklyn's injury report.
The Nets have listed Ben Simmons (left knee soreness) as questionable vs. the Bulls. Simmons, who hasn't started a game since the NBA Trade Deadline, has been sporadically battling knee soreness this season.
Right before the All-Star break, the point forward told reporters that he wasn't feeling any soreness in his knee and was happy that he could play. At the same time, he has been undergoing knee treatment. There is no further update on his availability for the game vs. Chicago.
Outside of Simmons, the Nets' injury report is clean. Only two-way guards David Duke Jr. (G League - Two-Way) and Dru Smith (G League Two-Way) will not be with the team. Both guards will be with the Nets G League affiliate, the Long Island Nets.
For the Bulls, the team has ruled out a handful of role players ahead of the Friday matchup. Chicago has listed Lonzo Ball (left knee surgery) and Javonte Green (right knee surgery) out. The Bulls have assigned Carlik Jones (G League - Two-Way) and Marko Simonovic (G League - Two-Way) to their G League affiliate, the Windy City Bulls.
The Friday night matchup begins a 24-game slate to finish out the regular season. The Nets will play 12 games at Barclays Center and 12 games on the road. More importantly, nine of the last 12 games will be played in Brooklyn. The team, despite trading Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, still holds playoff expectations.
