Kevin Durant Breaks Silence After Nets to Suns Trade
Kevin Durant is no longer a member of the Brooklyn Nets. Officially introduced as a member of the Phoenix Suns on Thursday afternoon, Durant broke his silence on the deal that brings him to a Western Conference contender.
Addressing Suns fans in his new arena, Durant said, "I know how significant a championship is to a franchise and to a city. I’ve been a part of two of those... I want to prove every night that we got a chance to win."
The superstar forward added during his introductory press conference that he has always loved playing in Phoenix, and is approaching this new opportunity with a mindset of having to prove himself every day. With the standard that his new teammates set, Durant said his intention is to match that by putting good stuff on the film every night.
With the fans roaring inside of the arena, Durant said he appreciates the warm welcome, but knows he has more work to do. Looking to bring a championship to Phoenix, Durant is focused on winning as many games as possible.
On how his new team stacks up with the best of the best, Durant said, "I think we got all the pieces to be successful." It certainly feels that way, as the 2021 Western Conference champions now have one of the best players in the world, but everyone knows that championships are not won on paper. Durant is a two-time Finals MVP, and will look to bring that championship experience to a roster that lacks it.
