This upcoming Wednesday is already encircled in the Nets fans’ season calendar as it will mark the first official game for Kevin Durant in Brooklyn since being dealt by the franchise in last season's trade deadline.

While there might be plenty of assumptions already around the Nets World that the team could flash its very own video tribute to at least honor him, it appears that KD would prefer to approach his Brooklyn homecoming like just a normal regular season game.

No more video tribute

Commenting on a poll that was made by a Nets fan on X that discusses if he deserves to have a special video tribute coming from Brooklyn, Durant already went ahead as he expressed disapproval on any honoring that could be made by the ball club within the Barclays Center.

This comment by Durant already went viral and drew plenty of reactions from fans.

Amid a lopsided run, KD is still a Nets legend

Durant stayed in Brooklyn for two and a half seasons, holding an average of 29.0 points, 7.1 boards, and 5.8 assists on 53.5 percent shooting for 129 total regular season games.

Forming a dazzling offensive tandem with Kyrie Irving in 2019, their run turned out to be a roller coaster ride not only for themselves but also for the entire franchise. Their stay in the team also saw a superteam formation with James Harden, which only lasted for a year and ended up woefully failing to win a championship.

In the mid-season portion of 2022-23, both sides decided to split up as Durant was shipped to the Phoenix Suns alongside T.J. Warren for Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder, four first-round picks, and a 2028 draft swap.

In general, KD's tenure brought tons of painful memories amongst Nets fans whose lofty dreams of a title got crushed and went upside down in the past four seasons. But at the end of the day, it has been a pleasure to see such an all-time great hooping and repping their team in front of their eyes.

It's only a matter of time before we can determine if the Nets will truly present a video tribute to welcome KD’s return.

Ben Simmons is confident he can contribute to the Nets when he returns
