Kevin Durant will not play in this year's All-Star game, but he was in attendance for the media availability portion on Saturday afternoon in Salt Lake City, Utah. The former Brooklyn Nets star and newest member of the Phoenix Suns also spoke about All-Star Weekend on a recent Boardroom podcast episode, and shared his feelings on the lack of star power in the dunk contest.

Naming both Ja Morant and Zion Williamson as two guys he would like to see in the contest, Durant also said Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James should have done it at least once in his career. Durant said when you look back at LeBron's career now, it would have been a special moment for the league to have that one dunk contest appearance.

Durant also spoke about All-Star Weekend integrating G-League players, and how it once felt "sacred" to be a part of the festivities. Some of that has certainly been lost, especially with the lack of star power in some of these events, but Durant made sure to emphasize that he means no shade to those who are participating, and believes they will put on a show.

There was always a lot of conversation surrounding LeBron James and the dunk contest throughout his prime, but it never happened. What used to be an event that featured some of the game's biggest stars, the dunk contest has lost some of its excitement.
