"It's KD, I get it."

A little over a day after the Phoenix Suns picked up a road win over the Brooklyn Nets at Barclays Center, Mikal Bridges caught word that Brooklyn is his new home.

Like many players that were dealt during the deadline, Bridges found out about the blockbuster when he was on FaceTime with his former teammate Damion Lee. He was confused at first until he opened Twitter.

"We were in Atlanta. I was just chilling on my iPad. Damion Lee, he called me, and like I said before, he was upset, and you could see it. He was just like bro I’m sorry. I was so confused, like what are you talking about? He was like, you just got traded for KD. I was like get out of here. I went to Twitter, I refreshed it. It was right there."

Moments after learning his 'twin' Cam Johnson was packaged in the deal to Brooklyn as well, the wing met up with him. Bridges called the midnight hangout, which also included other Suns players, 'last supper vibes.'

"And then I tweeted, and then my agent ended up calling me, and then right after I got off the phone with them I called cam, I’m like bruh. Where are you? What room you in? I’m coming up there, and then we were just out there, our former teammates were just chilling up there," he said. "That was like a little last supper type of vibes."

The idea of being traded to Brooklyn was always on Bridges' mind since last off-season. When Durant requested to be traded the first time, Phoenix was heavily favored as his next stop. At that time, he heard all the jokes but he's glad that when the jokes turned into a reality, his best friend on the Suns was going with him.

"We kinda knew. There were a lot of jokes, especially in the summer when KD wanted to come here and we knew the pieces and who might be the ones that were gonna go. And us two were the main two," Bridges said. "We always joked around and said at least we got us. At least we got us. And it happened, and still to this day, it’s like, at least I got my twin with me. That’s how it goes."

There are no hard feelings between Bridges and the Suns' organization. If the wing was making that trade package, he would've included himself as well.

"I mean, it's KD, I get it. I hundred percent get it and that's just how it is," he said. "I'd rather say I'd really be happy I got traded for KD than probably like, somebody else who I didn't think would be good, or something like that. So, just being a realist at the end of the day. Obviously, I'll miss everybody there, miss my home, miss all my friends that are back there. But, I mean, I get it, you're getting Kevin Durant, bro. Maybe I'll probably make that trade too."
