NBA Admits Nets Were Robbed vs. 76ers

The NBA admitted a crucial blown call in the Brooklyn Nets vs. Philadelphia 76ers game

In their first game of a new era, the Brooklyn Nets took the Philadelphia 76ers down to the wire in a thrilling game that ended in heartbreaking defeat. Mikal Bridges and Cam Johnson made their Nets debuts after being sent over from the Phoenix Suns in the Kevin Durant trade, and both players had solid showings. Johnson struggled with his shot, but pulled down 7 rebounds to go along with his 12 points, and Bridges led the way for Brooklyn with 23 points in his Nets debut.

Brooklyn had multiple chances to close this game out and get a victory, but the NBA recently admitted that they were actually robbed during one of those chances that wrongfully resulted in a turnover on Spencer Dinwiddie.

With less than 20 seconds left in the game, Dinwiddie drove to the basket and was bumped out of bounds by James Harden. There was no whistle on the play, and it was ruled a turnover by Dinwiddie, with possession going back to Philly. In their Last Two Minute Report, the NBA admitted that Brooklyn was robbed on that play, and Dinwiddie should have been awarded free throws. Had he knocked down both, this would had put the Nets up by three points with just 14 seconds remaining.

There was also some discussion surrounding Spencer Dinwiddie's buzzer-beating three-point attempt that was ruled late, with some believing he actually got the shot off in time, but the NBA determined that the correct ruling was made on that final look. While the league determined the Nets were not robbed on that shot, they did admit a crucial blown call on an equally important play just seconds prior.

It was a heartbreaking loss for the new-look Nets, but they showed a lot of promise, which is something their fans can be excited about.
