There’s nothing but disappointment around the Brooklyn Nets right now. Their skidding has no end in sight, and they have lost seven of their last 10 games. Upon the continuous downslides, their hopes of a Play-In qualification are now slowly fading away with just less than a month away before the 2024 postseason hits the calendar.

After a roller-coaster ride, the Nets’ season is considerably over

In the latest Power Ranking release of The Athletic for this 2023-24 season, the Nets remain stuck at the bottom portion of the league hierarchy, going down to No. 23 from last week’s No. 22 league rankings.

Unfortunately, the sports outlet has shut its doors down on any ideas that are controversial with the Nets. From being categorized for the past few weeks as a Play-In hopeful in Tier 5, Brooklyn was dragged to Tier 6 and joined the likes of Utah Jazz, Memphis Grizzlies, Toronto Raptors, and Charlotte Hornets, whose season is considerably over.

What’s next between Brooklyn and Kevin Ollie?

As their 2023-24 campaign is unofficially over, even if they still have 13 games left and could even deliver a miraculous Play-in late rally to topple the Atlanta Hawks, The Athletic’s Zach Harper directs the Nets’ focus now in determining if Kevin Ollie is still the best man for the job to guide the franchise towards success.

Ollie notably took over on an interim basis upon the head coaching dismissal of Jacque Vaughn during the All-Star break. But even his talent wasn’t enough to save the Nets’ season, as the ball club has gone 5-10 in the last 15 games under his leadership.

“It’s a start for them finding a better level of execution, and the Nets organization has to figure out if Ollie is the guy. Some of that will likely depend on how much of a Play-In or playoff threat they expect to be next season. This team isn’t here to rebuild (it doesn't have its own picks), so how do they become a winner?”
