One of the key and interesting highlights of the 2024 NBA Paris Games for the Brooklyn Nets is the fact that they have to face Donovan Mitchell. It can be noted from the previous weeks that the Nets are reportedly one of the rumored interested teams that are keeping an eye on Spida should the Cleveland Cavaliers decide to trade him.

But apparently, it appears that the Nets have to keep their patience intact, as a league insider reported that the Cavs do not have an interest in cutting their ties with Mitchell yet.

No trade for Spida

According to veteran NBA insider Marc Stein, the Cavaliers have been firm in their stance that they do not intend to entertain a Donovan Mitchell trade amid the recent buzzes.

Even though there is a strong sense of unlikeliness that Spida will re-sign with them, Stein added that the Cavs have no reason to call a divorce with the star guard, considering that he still has a guaranteed year left on their contract.

“The Cavaliers continue to send signals that they have no interest in fielding trade offers for Donovan Mitchell. Zero interest. Although pessimism persists about Cleveland’s chances of signing him to a long-term contract extension, Mitchell is under contract in Cleveland for one full season after this one at nearly $35 million in 2024-25, so the Cavaliers certainly face no mandate to entertain trade proposals right now.”

Nets have to keep patience intact

The rumors around Mitchell suddenly circulated when both Darius Garland and Evan Mobley sustained injuries that required lengthy timetables. In what could be a difficult time for both Mitchell and the Cavs without the two young stars, they even managed to flip the odds and have gone impressively with an 8-3 card in their ongoing stretch since Garland and Mobley went inactive.

As such, this couldn't be more downing for the Nets’ plans in monitoring Spida's market availability. As the Cavs have gone streaking positively so far, it appears that they need to lower their expectations that a trade will happen starring the explosive star.

For now, Brooklyn has no choice but to keep being focused on their current season run and start winning again to slash their current slump.
