The Nets have had a nomadic existen cesince their inception 52 years ago as they were originally formed as the "New Jersey Americans." Many Brooklyn Nets fans, whom are jumping on the Kevin Durant-Kyrie Irving bandwagon, may not have an appreciation for the franchise's history and where it came from. Many all-time players have come and gone.

Through five-plus decades of Nets basketball, the logos, uniforms, arenas, players and cities have changed, but the fabric of the team has remained a constant.

The Nets posted a comprehensive team history with links to retired numbers, arenas played in, team logos and uniforms along with the team's notable moments throughout the decades.

The little brother to the New York Knicks, the Nets have always been the other team in the New York market. Even during consecutive runs to the NBA finals in 2001 and 2002, the Nets played in a half empty arena and barely captured the attention of New York City.

Now residing in the Borough of Brooklyn, the Nets are capturing the City by storm. Durant and Irving's arrival in Brooklyn spells an exciting time in the franchise's history that could bring its first real chance to contend for a championship in more that 17 years.

As the next generation of NBA fans look to find a new favorite team, the Nets are laying out the franchise's history and not neglecting their roots. Under former CEO Brett Yomark, the Nets wrapped their arms around the Borough of Brooklyn and almost tried to escape and run from the team's 35-year history playing in New Jersey and earlier years in Long Island.

Now everything has come full circle. From New Jersey to Long Island back to New Jersey and to Brooklyn, with a few stops in between, the Nets have a wild history that many fans don't truly understand or appreciate. The current ownership group and marketing team has finally shown fans the full picture of how the team journeyed to Brooklyn and provides a snapshot into the history books about some of the franchise's finest players and moments.
