The Nets will have likely have two small forwards suspended to start the year. Wilson Chandler's 25-game PED suspension has already been announced, while Rodions Kurucs could face lengthy suspension in light of his domestic assault accusation.

Brooklyn elected not to bring back Rondae Hollis-Jefferson as the athletic four signed with the Toronto Raptors during the offseason. Former Net Joe Johnson is off the board as he just inked a deal with the Detroit Pistons.

Carmelo Anthony was seen playing pickup ball at a Lifetime Fitness this week, while being guarded by current Nets shooting forward Taurean Prince.

The former Hawk intimated that Melo hasn't lost a step and he's as difficult a player to check as their is league-wide. Teams understand that Anthony can still put the ball in the basket, his leadership, work ethic and overall attitude are what are really being brought into question.

Nets fans seem split on the idea of signing Anthony. For me, the bad outweighs the good, as even former teammate in Denver Chauncey Billups hinted that teams are scared off by Melo for his immaturity and perceived selfishness.

For a Kenny Atkinson squad that spent three seasons developing a culture of hard work and a selfless attitude, Melo would be the anthesis of everything they're trying to create in Brooklyn. While the Nets options at small forward dwindle, the team should still take a hard pass on Melo.
