According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Nets are hiring former Turner president David Levy to become their next CEO. Levy, who overaw the television rights deal between Turner and the NBA, will fill in for the departed Brett Yormark who served as team CEO for 14 years.  With a plethora of experience in the entertainment industry, Levy will continue to build the Nets brand into a globally recognized one that will help propel the franchise to both national and global relevance.

While Yormark drilled home the "Brooklyn" brand and bappealeat NBA fans over the head with the fact the team left New Jersey for Brooklyn nearly a decade ago. So while Brooklyn has appeal and is the fastest growing borough in New York City, the Nets brand has been established for 52-years.

Yormark was behind the decision to leave "Nets" off the front of player jersey, center court logo, marketing materials, and other merchandise. He became a CEO almost wanting to establish a new brand identity and attempt to wipe away nearly five decades of franchise history with many bad times, but a few good including the Dr. J ABA years and back to back finals appearances with Jason Kidd at the helm.

Now with an established entertainment executive that had worked with Turner since 1987, Levy brings a wealth of experience to a NETS brand that is looking to take things to the next level. Levy was instrumental in forming the agreement between Turner and CBS to broadcast March Madness games, and is the ultimate mover and shaker in the entertainment industry.

As the Nets embark on their next chapter of basketball with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving as the poster boys for the franchise, Levy will have boundless marketing channels and ideas to catapault the Nets into the forefront of basketball fans' minds.
