As the 2023-24 season's trade deadline is about to approach next week, rumblings can only get louder and overwhelming around the Brooklyn Nets camp.

Sitting at a complicated 11th spot in the Eastern Conference with a 19-28 card, the Nets’ current standing screams urgency and a needed retooling. After firing the season's start with such high hopes, uncertainty to contend is now in the air for Brooklyn.

As they have several key components of the league's trade chatter, the Nets have been frequently tagged as one of the key teams to watch. Regardless of what would unfold and the sudden changes that may arise, the entire team is shutting down any chances to get distracted.

Calm through the storm

As the team's promising young piece, Cam Thomas admitted that there has been an existing awareness around the entire group about trades and potential departures that may come soon. But at the end of the day, they remain committed to performing at their best and cherish the moments that they have altogether.

“Unspoken, really, nobody really want to talk about everybody’s situation,” he said. “Everybody reads stuff, but I think it’s [an] unspoken [thing]. Nobody talks about that kind of stuff.

“We’re just enjoying the moment we have here and playing together as a team. We playing well as a team. Everybody gets along, so we’re just enjoying the moment.”

Control what you can control

There has been plenty of considerable and loud chatter recently around Mikal Bridges. The franchise stands committed to the Nets star after previous reports indicated that they rejected mouth-watering offers from other teams just to call a split-up with Mikal.

Despite the outside noises that involve him, Mikal prefers to stick in hooping and adapt to scenarios that could take place.

“I just try to control what I can control,” he said, “and try to win as many games and play hard.”
