At the end of this season, Kyrie Irving will become an unrestricted free agent. It feels Irving's contract will end in a very long time from now, but in actuality, it's only a handful of months away. Despite that, the Brooklyn Nets are reportedly in no rush to offer Irving an extension.

According to a report from Marc Stein, the Brooklyn Nets feel like they're under no pressure when it comes to Irving's extension. Here is the exact quote from the article:

"The Nets are convinced that they are under no pressure when Irving would likely need their help via sign-and-trade to relocate in the offseason to any other team he likes."

Just last week, Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report stated that Irving wanted to make Brooklyn his long-term home, with the right type of extension. His agent essentially stated that the ball is in the Nets' court.

It wasn't too long ago when it seemed inevitable that Kyrie Irving was going to join the Los Angeles Lakers during the off-season. Shortly thereafter, it seemed like the Nets were going to release Irving again when the team suspended him over his controversial tweets. All of this happened just a few short months ago, but it seems long forgotten now that Irving is leading the team to wins with Kevin Durant out.

In all likelihood, the regular season and playoff success of the Brooklyn Nets will determine whether or not the team offers a suitable long-term extension to Irving. It's going to be a very interesting year for the Brooklyn Nets.
